If you’re going off expert reviews and awards garnered, the Mazda CX-3 sits at or near the top of the subcompact crossover SUV class. Continual technology and safety updates make the CX-3 one of the more best cars to drive in this space.
Here’s what we think you should expect from the 2018 Mazda CX-3 GX, GS, and GT before you go out and get yours.
How It Drives
Considered one of the more fun subcompact crossovers, the CX-3 comes with G-Vectoring Control that helps to deliver exceptional steering and handling. The ride is not as smooth as some others in this class as the cabin tends to experience some rattling. The acceleration power is average, but the braking power is excellent. The backseat is a bit cramped and it’s best for everyday city rides as opposed to weekend off-roading.
Features & Trims
The base model GX boasts interesting features such as rain-sensing windshield wipers, low-speed automatic braking, Bluetooth hands-free calling, a 7-inch touchscreen display. You can get it with either a manual or automatic transmission. You can also choose to upgrade to the GS and GT models for a higher end features. For example, the mid-level GS comes with upgrades such as heated seats and alloy wheels. The GT comes with Lux Suede upholstery and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Utility
Cargo space is probably where the CX-3 takes the biggest hit as other cars in this class are usually a little roomier. Interior storage is also lacking a bit as it doesn’t include a center armrest.
Our Recommendation
With fantastic fuel-efficiency and award-winning design, we highly recommend the 2018 Mazda CX-3. The base model delivers good value, and if you’re looking for more advanced features, you will certainly find them in the GS or GT models.
